Cosmetic Tattooing
(permanent makeup)

Cosmetic Tattooing or commonly referred to as Permanent Makeup is a semi permanent makeup technique designed to create eyebrows, eyeliner, or shaded lips with a with soft powder effect, very similar to powder makeup. Powder effect is done with a shading technique using a permanent makeup device, which is similar to a tattoo gun.

Our trained artist uses a small single needle to place pigment into the skin with a quick hand motion, resulting in a pixelated effect of powder makeup. In order to add density, the artists can layer the pixels repetitively, which will appear as though the brow was filled in with a pencil or brow pomade. The art in shading is to layer the pixels perfectly without appearing denser and darker then your natural eyebrow hair.

This is recommended for clients who draw on their eyebrows everyday, seeking a low maintenance routine, sparse or no brow hair or clients who are not a candidate for Microblading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

It is a slight uncomfortable sensation but tolerable. We can apply topical or local anesthetic to make your service more comfortable.

What should I expect?

A consultation is required prior to appointment to make sure your a candidate, what style and shape you are drawn too and overall density of the brows. Once at your cosmetic tattoo appointment your provider will measure and map your brows based on your facial features and previous likes. After both parties have agreed on shape, tattooing will begin and takes approximately 1 hour.

What is the healing process?

The skin will take about 6-8 weeks to completely heal. At this time you'll be ready to come back for a perfecting appointment.

You can expect the following from day 1-42:

Immediately after: Your brows will start secreting lymph, you will want to dab this with a clean cotton round until fluid is no longer leaking. You might feel your skin tighten accompanied by redness and minor swelling.

Day 1-3 your brow's may appear slightly pink still around the tattoo, possibly a little swollen. Brows will appear very dark and sharp.

Day 3-7: Scabbing is the most annoying phase. During this time brows will scab over and become itchy eventually flaking off - it's crucial for you to not pick the scabs!

Day 8-14: The infamous ghosting phase! Your brows will appear that they lost all pigment - this is normal, your pigment will slowly come back over the next few days.

Day 14-20: Color returns and the external healing is almost complete. You can lessen your homecare restrictions given after your appointment.

Day 21-42: Your eyebrows are not yet in their final form, but you can start to ease up on the aftercare guide. Please avoid sweating and sun exposure still as these can slow down the healing process.

If at any point you feel that your healing stage is excessive or not going right, please reach out to our Office.

Is this a normal tattoo?

No. Permanent makeup is not a regular tattoo. The ink is formulated specifically for the face and is implanted between the epidermis and dermis where a regular tattoo is implanted directly to the dermal layer. The techniques used are also very different.
